Ami Bouterse

Dynamic, dedicated, and driven, teaching artist, Ami Bouterse, helps singers become empowered performers as an Associate Professor of Music at UW-Parkside. Ami also directs opera, operetta and musical productions and is the director of Parkside Range, which is the flagship ensemble of the Parkside’s Contemporary Commercial Music track. Parkside Range members have attended Camp A Cappella, NACC, and SoJam, where they were invited as a Scholastic Competitor in 2018. They also enjoy performing at A Cappella University every summer as the host group. Ami earned Level I, II and III certification of Jeanne LoVetri's Somatic Voicework (TM) internationally recognized method for contemporary vocal pedagogy at Shenandoah University. Ami is a soprano with Belle Ensemble, a professional vocal ensemble in southeastern Wisconsin featuring music from classical and musical theater in both solo and ensemble formats. Professional stages include Skylight Music Theatre, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Ash Lawn-Highland Festival, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, and Racine Symphony Orchestra. Degrees are from University of Wisconsin - Madison and Carnegie Mellon University.
